Role Overview:
We’re looking to expand our Foodservice division and are seeking a dynamic Business Development Executive to help drive and support current growth in hospitality, catering and foodservice sectors. If you live and breathe great food and thrive on building relationships, this could be the perfect fit for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prospect & win new foodservice customers: restaurants, hotels, caterers, wholesalers, contract caterers and speciality venues.
- Working with the current team to manage & grow existing accounts—offering The Bay Tree chutneys & preserves, Whitakers chocolate products and Bramble foodservice range.
- Stay on top of foodservice trends and emerging hospitality concepts.
- Deliver sales presentations, product tastings and menu-development support.
- Develop and execute territory plans, delivering on objectives, KPIs, and activity plans for The Bay Tree.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Customer Service and Operations to ensure seamless order processing, on-time delivery and exceptional customer care.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and produce regular business-review reports
Skills & Experience:
- Hospitality/Foodservice background: catering, hospitality supply or a chef background desirable but not essential.
- Self-motivated & energetic: you own your diary, your pipeline and your results.
- Customer-facing flair: confident presenter to chefs, F&B managers and buying teams.
- Commercial acumen: spot opportunities, negotiate margin and deliver against sales targets.
- Organised & proactive: manage multiple accounts and close business with minimal supervision.
- Team player: collaborate effectively across functions.
- Full UK driving licence: company car, mobile and laptop provided.
- Ideally: relevant degree or demonstrable trade/sales experience.

Production Operative - Labelling (Food manufacturing)
We are looking to recruit a hardworking and quality focused individual to join and strengthen our highly successful production team in our manufacturing site at Lee Mill, Ivybridge, Plymouth.
Mon to Wed 8:00-19:00 / Thu 8:00-16:00
£12.30/hr
Reporting to the Production Manager
Full-Time Permanent Contract
- Based within our Preparation and Production Departments, you will be developed to become a multi-skilled operator, working as part of our team manufacturing Award Winning Preserves and Condiments.
- Ideally, candidates should have previous experience working within a food production environment or similar.
- Basic Food Hygiene certificate or equivalent would be advantageous but is not essential as full training will be provided.

Quality Assurance (Food Manufacturing)
The Bay Tree is looking for a QA for our production & warehouse sites at Lee Mill, Ivybridge, Plymouth.
37.5-40 hours – Mon to Fri 8-4 / Mon to Fri 7:30-4
Reporting to the Technical Manager
Full-Time Permanent Contract
Salary: 24K-26K DOE
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in the organisation & control of day-to-day activities, drive standards across the manufacturing site with regard to food safety and quality.
- To ensure any issues raised with ingredients are appropriately risk assessed and the necessary outcomes are effectively communicated throughout to ensure claims and agreed controls are actioned.
- To support the supplier approval procedure ensuring all relevant documentation is kept up to date.
- To assist in the completion of hygiene, fabrication, GMP and Glass & Hard Plastic audits (as required to schedule), raise non-conformances and follow up on agreed actions.
- To maintain the associated systems with regard to production documentation, raising non-conformances, product issue reports and following up on agreed actions until a satisfactory conclusion.
- To undertake equipment & testing validations weekly to ensure compliance to HACCP.
- To undertake due diligence and quality assessments on ingredients and finished products.
- To update and review procedures and SOP’s to ensure effective training can be provided for staff.
- To maintain the suppliers of services and ensure all documentation and certification is kept up to date.
- Investigating and responding to customer complaints.
- Update and review QA documentation when change is required.
- To work closely with the NPD team to ensure product issues are investigated and actions put in place to achieve within specification results.
- To undertake any other duties as may be required within the scope of the post including providing support to the Technical Manager and Team.

- Training will be provided across all areas of the business, food safety and quality.
- The successful candidate will need to be sufficient in using Microsoft IT programmes.

Supply Chain Supervisor
The Bay Tree is looking for a Supply Chain Supervisor for our production site at Lee Mill, Ivybridge, Plymouth.
40 hours – Mon to Fri 8am to 5pm
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Support goods in Controller to ensure goods are offloaded, documented, assigned rotation numbers and managed into the business according to the applicable site SOP.
- Support goods in controller to ensure all ‘Out of Stock’ products are processed in a timely manner.
- Ensure materials are available for production at East Way as and when required.
- Issue orders Pick Sheets to the team fairly and manage their workload.
- Manage cycle counts to ensure accurate stock is available for picking with SICON. Also challenge stock discrepancies and investigate issues before adjusting stock on Sage.
- Manage control measures using company QA documents to ensure that issues, discrepancies and non-conformances for incoming goods are documented, addressed and resolved, and this also includes managing and completing Technical Audit actions.
- Monthly check haulier and courier invoices to make sure team is cost efficient on sending orders to customers, relay issues with supply chain manager and accounts.
- Review cancel order line report and credit report monthly, regarding damages, and discuss with management required improvement.
- Record on a daily basis any supplier management delivery issues and liaise with goods in and supply chain to report to suppliers.
- Work effectively and efficiently with cross-functional teams, such as purchasing, technical, production, operations and the warehouse.
- Support the Goods in controller to ensure frozen & chilled materials are offloaded & documented and sent to East Way for storage in a timely manner (only applicable when East Way can’t offload at their site)
- Assist and collaborate with Accounts and the Supply Chain Controller when dealing with Returns.
- Uphold the Health & Safety standards of the Warehouse.
- Support and assist newly appointed or less experienced colleagues by providing training and guidance as appropriate.
- To support the senior team, i.e. Supply Chain Manager, Director of Operations and the Managing Director with any ad-hoc projects.
- Provide cover/support during holidays or unplanned absences to any role within the warehouse, including the Label Room Team Leader’s role.
- Review short dated / out of date finished product once a month with the Managing Director and action any redating etc.

PRODUCTION OPERATIVES
The Bay Tree is looking for Production Operatives for our production site at Lee Mill, Ivybridge, Plymouth.
DAY SHIFTS & NIGHT SHIFTS AVAILABLE
- Day shifts: Various shifts available.
- Night Shifts: Mon to Thurs nights – 40 hrs per week. (Starting September)
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- To assist Production Management in all aspects of carrying out daily production tasks to ensure its continued success.
- Assisting in the preparation, manufacturing and packing of our range of Quality Preserves, Sauces and Condiments.
- Operating machinery and equipment as required for the above activity.
- Carrying out a variety of cleaning duties as directed.
- Assisting with the achievement of production targets.
- Minimising production costs.
- Minimising wastage.
- Demonstrating the competent application of good manufacturing practices required to consistently operate to high standards of food quality and food safety.
- Complying with Company hygiene policies and procedures when undertaking operations while maintaining high standards of personal hygiene.
- Monitoring and recording quality and food safety performance where applicable.
- Working in a safe manner with due consideration for personal Health & Safety and that of co-workers at all times.
- Attending Company Training courses/sessions which will support your continuous personal development to ensure our manufacturing capability keeps pace with or exceeds our customer requirements. It will cover; food quality, food safety, health & safety and other aspects of competence required by legislation.
